Professor Nana Araba Apt is currently Dean Emerita of Academic Affairs, Ashesi University College Berekuso.  She received her undergraduate education in Psychology, Philosophy and English at Queen’s University in Canada, her Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) at the University of Toronto, Canada and her PhD in Sociology and Social Work at the University of Ghana, Legon.
 Professor Apt taught at the University of Ghana for 20 years from lecturer grade to full professor and headed two departments (Sociology and Social Work). Professor Apt also initiated the Centre for Social policy Studies (CSPS) which she directed for six years before moving on to Ashesi University College. 
Professor Apt has published widely. Acknowledged as a pioneer in African gerontology, her research and publication record bridges disciplinary applications in gerontology, family relations, child development and women’s education. Professor Apt is a frequent consultant for many international human development organisations including UN organisations and the African Union. She has been a visiting Professor at Universities in the USA, Canada, South Africa and Uganda.
