CSPS Strengthens Partnership with UNICEF to Advance Social Policy Collaboration
The Centre for Social Policy Studies (CSPS), University of Ghana, has taken steps to deepen its partnership with UNICEF Ghana as part of efforts to promote evidence-based policymaking and inclusive social development.
A CSPS delegation led by its Director, Professor Abdul-Gafaru Abdulai, paid a courtesy visit to UNICEF Ghana on 30th September 2025 at the organization’s Accra office. The visit forms part of CSPS’s ongoing drive to strengthen collaboration with development partners working in areas such as child well-being, social protection, and inequality reduction.
The CSPS team included Prof. Stephen Afranie, Dr. Ernestina Dankyi, Dr. George Domfeh, Dr. Emmanuel Kumi, and Dr. Jacob Novingnyon. The UNICEF team was led by Pauliina Sarvilahti, Chief of Social Policy, and Christiana Gbedema, Social Protection Specialist at UNICEF.
Discussions were productive and forward-looking, focusing on opportunities for joint research, evidence generation, and technical cooperation in child rights and social policy. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to using research to inform and strengthen Ghana’s social development agenda.
Prof. Abdulai emphasized that collaboration with UNICEF aligns with CSPS’s renewed vision of becoming a leading regional policy think tank. He noted that partnerships of this kind would enhance the Centre’s impact in bridging research and policymaking for social transformation.
The meeting ended with a mutual commitment to develop a concrete roadmap for collaboration, marking an important step toward a stronger and more strategic CSPS–UNICEF partnership.
