The Centre for Social Policy Studies (CSPS) invites you to a timely and thought-provoking webinar titled “Navigating Peer Violence in Boarding Schools: A Social Work Lens on Protection and Advocacy in Ghana.” This virtual event will be led by Prof. Prospera Tedam, a distinguished Professor of Social Work at University College Dublin, Republic of Ireland. With extensive experience in culturally sensitive and anti-oppressive social work, Prof. Tedam will share insights from her research on the role of social work interventions in addressing peer violence and promoting student wellbeing in boarding school environments. This seminar explores the complex issue of peer-to-peer violence in Ghanaian boarding schools, highlighting its profound impact on children’s safety, wellbeing, and educational experiences. Drawing on research and practice insights, it examines how social workers can play a pivotal role in prevention, early intervention, and advocacy within these unique institutional settings. The seminar also shares approaches to strengthen social work responses and ensure that boarding schools are not only centres of learning but also spaces of care, dignity, and protection.
