John Azam wins Best MA Thesis Prize 🥳
John Theodore Azam, who graduated in January 2022 from the CSPS MA program in Social Policy Studies, will receive the CSPS Best MA Thesis Prize at the University of Ghana's Academic Awards Ceremony on Friday, 29 April 2022. Â John's thesis was selcted for the prize after a rigorous process that involved shortlisting four theses which were then put through a review process.Â
John wrote his thesis on "Co-responsibilities of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty Programme and the Well-being of Children in the Bongo District". One reviewer commented,Â
"The study examined Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) beneficaries’ understanding of co-responsibilities in the Bongo District in the Upper East Region of Ghana. The study found that co-responsibilities contribute significantly to the wellbeing of children through sensitisation programmes and compliance with LEAP conditionalities. The thesis is well written and has the potential to make an important contribution to the literature on conditional cash transfer and child wellbeing."
John is Head of Department of the Social Welfare and Community Development at the Bongo District Assembly. We hope to see him go on to do bigger and better things with the knowledge and skills he has obtained at CSPS.Â
Congratulations, John!
