Women doing digital platform work: Lessons from Ghana
CSPS held a seminar, on 28 October, on Increasing Access to Social Security and Social Insurance for Workers in the Informal Sector in Ghana. Dr. Rita Owusu-Amankwah explained that the informal sector employs the majority of people in the world, most of whom are unprotected from economic shocks to their livelihoods. Because of this, International Labour Organization (ILO) Recommendation No. 204 calls for member states to progressively extend social security, maternity protection, and decent work conditions for all informal workers .
Dr. Stephen Afranie, a researcher at CSPS, was invited by the Civil Society Platform for Social Protection-Ghana to facilitate a workshop on advocacy strategies for Ghana's Social Protection Bill. The workshop was held on October 16, 2021.
